Car-Free Earth Day 2026

Car-Free Earth Day is back on April 25, 10AM-4PM, with Open Streets in all five boroughs.

This annual car-free event celebrates Earth Day and hosted by NYC DOT. The event features free activities and programming focused on climate change, sustainability, and related topics, at signature locations across the city. Come walk, bike, play and experience a car-free NYC.

Through the support of Lyft, Citi Bike will offer free unlimited 30-minute rides on a classic Citi Bike on Car-Free Earth Day for 24 hours. All riders may take advantage of the offer.

  • East 188th Street from Grand Concourse to Valentine Avenue

Brooklyn

  • Fifth Avenue between 41st Street to 45th Street

Manhattan

  • Broadway between 17th Street and 46th Street

  • St. Nicholas Avenue between 181st Street and 185th Street

  • Dyckman Street between Broadway and La Marina/Inwood Hill Park

Queens

  • Woodside Avenue between 75th Street and 78th Street

Staten Island

  • Port Richmond Avenue between Castleton Avenue and Bennett Street
