Think you speak emoji? Prove it! 

World Emoji Day is celebrated every year on July 17 – the date on the calendar emoji – and this year Metro by T-Mobile is hosting an Emoji Decoder Challenge at its Jackson Heights store.  

This Friday, people of all ages are welcome to visit the store at 9542 Roosevelt Ave., from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. to put their emoji skills to the test. Each person will be given a short phrase, and if they can decode it into emoji terms, they can win a themed prize such as an emoji keychain or an oversized emoji pillow. 

A local DJ will be on site providing encouragement and excitement, and polaroid photos will be available for everyone who participates. Visitors can also enter a drawing to win a Fujifilm Instax Mini 12 or an LED backpack. No purchase is required.
