A stellar lineup will keep the block pARTy moving all evening, with Debit’s bass-heavy electronic grooves, followed by percussion collective A.B.E.L.A.’s expansive interplay of electronic and ancestral rhythms from across the Global South, and finally drumming ensemble Fogo Azul’s Brazilian percussion and movement, with an infectious energy that is sure to spill into the crowd. Learn more about each of our featured artists below!
Inspired by Guggenheim Pop: 1960 to Now, 88th street will be transformed into your Pop playground. Challenge friends to a chess match, Connect 4, Jenga, art trivia, or even badminton à la Claes Oldenberg; piece together Frank Lloyd Wright designs at our communal puzzle tables; or get creative with drop-in art making. Create a sun print inspired by Lucia Hierro’s De todo un poco, grab drawing supplies from the Art Cart, and strike a pose in our classic photo booth featuring props inspired by Guggenheim Pop: 1960 to Now.
Stop by the Wright Restaurant for refreshing summer mocktails and block party favorites like popcorn, jumbo pretzels, and hot dogs. To beat the heat, head down to the Peter B Lewis Theater to catch a screening of the fan-favorite film Barbie!
Neighbors, members, passersby, and art lovers of all ages––this block pARTy is for you. Join us outside the Guggenheim, free with RSVP, and send summer off New York–style!
As a special thank-you for joining us, RSVP to receive $5 off tickets to one of our exciting Late Shift programs in the rotunda this fall. Please note: Museum galleries will be closed during Late Shift: Block pARTy. To explore Guggenheim Pop: 1960 to Now and other exhibitions on view, plan your visit before the Block pARTy begins at 5 pm.
