Juneteenth is celebrated annually on June 19 to commemorate the ending of slavery in the United States. It has been a federal holiday since 2021. There are a ton of events in NYC to celebrate June 19 - 21.

Manhattan:
Oh Sanofka!, a Juneteenth Celebration at Lincoln Center 6:00pm - 8:30pm: A free immersive performance at Lincoln Center. The show blends African American folklore — featuring mythical characters like Anansi and High John the Conqueror—with music, dance, and slave narratives. It begins at 6 p.m at Hearst Plaza and continues at 7:30 p.m. in Damrosch Park. No tickets required – seating is first come, first-served.
Broadway Celebrates Juneteenth in Times Square 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Presented by the Broadway League’s Black to Broadway initiative, this free outdoor concert takes over Duffy Square (Broadway between 46th and 47th streets) with showstopping performances by Black Broadway stars from 15 productions—including The Lion King, Wicked, Six, and more. This year’s event will honor actor and activist André De Shields with the 2025 Juneteenth Legacy Award. No tickets needed.
5th Annual Historic Harlem Parks Juneteenth Festival: Black Music and Dance Celebration at Richard Rodgers Amphitheater (in Marcus Garvey Park), Manhattan 4:00 p.m.–7:00 p.m. NJMH’s Juneteenth Black Music and Dance Celebration is an outdoor celebration rooted in community, movement, and sounds from the Black Diaspora.
Movies Under the Stars: Harriet at West 114th Street and Morningside Drive (in Morningside Park), Manhattan
8:00 p.m.–11:00 p.m. The incredible true story of one of America's greatest heroes, Harriet Tubman.

Juneteenth: Brooklyn and the Abolitionist Movement at Corner of Furman and Old Fulton Streets (in Brooklyn Bridge Park), Brooklyn 11:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Join the Urban Park Rangers on a walk discussing Brooklyn's significant history to the abolitionist movement in the United States..
Juneteenth, A Freedom Celebration at Patchen Community Square, Brooklyn 4:00 p.m.–7:00 p.m. Come to Patchen Community Square Garden for a Juneteenth celebration on Thursday, June 19th! There will be food, music and culture to celebrate the African Diaspora.
Bronx:
Juneteenth Celebration at Van Cortlandt House Museum (in Van Cortlandt Park), Bronx 5:00 p.m.–7:30 p.m. Van Cortlandt Park Alliance and Bronx Arts Ensemble invite you to an evening celebration of Juneteenth on the lawn of the Van Cortlandt House Museum.
