Calling all New Yorkers! The Library is launching our first-ever Big Summer Book Club and we’re inviting readers from across NYC to join. Plus, complete our Summer Reading Challenge and get free merch—while supplies last!

We will be reading N.K. Jemisin’s The City We Became. In this epic fantasy, New Yorkers from every borough must come together to save the city from destruction. Visit NYPL branches to attend Big Summer Book Club programs all summer long and save the date for our book club celebration on August 17.

The Library and the Public Theater will celebrate a summer of communal reading with a major book club event featuring readings, performances, and a conversation between author N. K. Jemisin and WNYC’s Alison Stewart.

Tickets will be available the day of the event (August 17) through the Public Theater via line at the Delacorte Theater and lottery at the Public Theater, and ticket voucher distributions at Clason’s Point Library in the Bronx and St. George Library Center in Staten Island.
