Get your trowels ready! The annual Park Avenue โTulip Digโ starts on Saturday, May 10th! ๐ท
On May 10-11, tulip bulbs can be carefully removed from the Park Avenue end beds and mid-mall cement planters between 49th and 50th Streets, and between 54th and 86th Streets, during daylight hours.
With proper care, Park Avenue tulips have been replanted and continue to bloom in personal and community gardens in and around New York City. To enjoy the tulips for years to come, please be sure to follow the instructions below and exercise extreme caution while on the malls:
When digging up the bulbs, do not take any soil and do not cut off the leaves.
Bulbs should be stored in a dry place until the leaves have turned brittle. They can be re-planted in October or November using a small amount of Bulbtone-type fertilizer. Be sure to choose a location that gets full sunlight.
