THE IMAGINARY INVALID: Molière's Comedy-Ballet in Prospect Park

  • LeFrak Center at Lakeside, Prospect Park 171 East Drive Brooklyn, NY, 11225 United States (map)

Molière in the Park returns to LeFrak Center at Lakeside, Prospect Park with their most ambitious FREE production yet!

Do not miss the world premiere of a new translation of Molière's THE IMAGINARY INVALID, featuring live original music and choreography and starring Tony and Olivier Award nominee Sahr Ngaujah! Produced by Molière in the Park in partnership with Prospect Park Alliance.

The Imaginary Invalid is the last play that legendary French playwright Molière wrote and was originally conceived as a Comedy-Ballet where theater, dance, and music are intertwined. Gravely ill while writing and performing this play, Molière explores the fear of disease and the exploitation it breeds through his infinitely humorous dialogue and in-your-face satire.

Molière in the Park (MIP) is a nonprofit theater company that has been bringing free world class theater to Central Brooklyn since 2019. We have brought updated versions of Molière's comedies, often alongside new local playwrights' works, to many beloved Brooklyn venues including Prospect Park's LeFrak Center, Brooklyn Public Library, BRIC and others. The mission of MIP is to foster empathy and unity within the diverse communities in Brooklyn through the arts.
