What Grows Here Art Installation

  • Vanderbilt Hall at Grand Central Terminal 89 East 42nd Street New York, New York, 10017 United States (map)

Empathy, a platform supporting families through grief, caregiving and estate planning, will debut "What Grows Here", an interactive public art installation in Vanderbilt Hall.

In recognition of Grief Awareness Day and Make-a-Will Month, New Yorkers are invited to write a note to someone they love, someone they miss or the legacy they hope to leave behind, then attach it to a stalk of wheat as the installation grows into a living work of art throughout the two-day event.

The experience comes at a time when conversations around grief and legacy are more important than ever. Empathy's latest research found that nearly 90% of people experience anxiety while grieving, while more than 65% say grief impacts their ability to participate in everyday life. What Grows Here is designed to create space for reflection, connection and conversations that many families struggle to start.
