Check Engine Light 2D Art Exhibit

  • 16 Morton Street New York, NY, 10014 United States (map)

Joshua Vides’ Check Engine Light has transformed Morton Street Partners into a high-contrast mechanic’s workshop complete with painted foam tires, racing hoods, limited-edition acrylic tools and a fully customized limousine as its striking centerpiece.

Following the success of the Los Angeles debut, the NYC iteration deepens Vides’ exploration of car culture, all rendered in his signature black-and-white sketch style. The show, produced in collaboration with Cart Dept and No More Rulers, turns the gallery into a surreal garage where utility becomes art and the familiar becomes cartoonishly uncanny.

The exhibition features programming, from a conversation with Vides and artist Eric Haze, to a live painting session today and much more.

Check Engine Light is free and open to the public at Morton Street Partners through May 6.
