Madison Square Park Holiday Tree Lighting

  • 11 Madison Avenue New York, NY, 10010 United States (map)

On December 24, 1912, Madison Square Park held the first ever public tree lighting in New York City, sparking a trend that has since reverberated throughout the country.

In 2025, we continue this tradition with a 42-foot concolor fir proudly sourced from New York State from a 4th generation farm.

Enjoy this free joyful event with photo ops, warm beverages, and live music performances in partnership with the Tin Pan Alley American Popular Music Project.

Treats include: hot cocoa & macarons from Tous les Jours, desserts from Bindi, cookies from Sweetgreen & Ritz Carlton Nomad, & cups of chocolate peppermint custard from Shake Shack!

  • Tree lighting at approximately 5 PM.

  • All giveaways while supplies last.

  • No stroller parking is available so please consider leaving strollers at home if possible.

  • Free and open to the public, no reservations are necessary but sign up in the registration link to receive event updates.
