To celebrate the 1,000th edition of Connections (publishing March 7), New York Times Games is partnering with Matchaful for a limited-time morning collaboration across its NYC locations.
From March 2-7th during the morning rush of 8-11AM., anyone who shows they’ve completed that day’s Connections puzzle can receive a complimentary, limited-edition four-layer drink (Purple First) inspired by the game’s signature color-coded solve.
The drink mirrors the four-tier structure players know well, visually layered in purple, blue, green, and yellow, translating the puzzle’s design into a morning ritual moment. The limited-edition beverage will be available while supplies last each day.
The collaboration was inspired by how players actually engage with the game: Connections’ most popular solve window is between 9-11AM making it a staple of many people’s coffee (or matcha) routines.
In addition to the Matchaful collaboration, the milestone includes two new in-game badges:
1,000th Puzzle Challenge Badge – awarded to players who complete Puzzle #1000
1,000 Connections Badge – awarded to players who have completed 1,000 total puzzles
The layers of flavors are:
Purple - Purple Sweet Potato, Taro, Maple, Coconut Milk
Blue - Blue Spirulina, Maple, Almond Cream
Green - Grape, 3g Kiwami Super Ceremonial Matcha, Almond Cream
Yellow - Pineapple, Maple.
