The Frozen Surfboard
About this event
The Frozen Surfboard is a one-day-only Climate Week NYC installation taking over Times Square on Tuesday, September 22, with one clear goal: encourage people to watch Antarctica — Domain One, and sign the petition supporting protection of the proposed Domain 1 Marine Protected Area.
A real surfboard used during an Antarctic expedition will be frozen inside a massive block of ice in Father Duffy Square, slowly melting free throughout the day. The project comes from Argentine filmmaker and surfer brothers Julián and Joaquín Azulay (Gauchos del Mar), whose documentary is narrated in English by 11-time world surfing champion Kelly Slater.
