Volunteer Day at NY Common Pantry

  • 8 East 109th Street New York, NY, 10029 United States (map)

Volunteer with us and support New York Common Pantry!

Support New York Common Pantry + volunteer with us on Feb 7 at their Choice Pantry Manhattan location! We will be volunteering at  8 E 109th St with two shift options (Morning (9A-1P) or Afternoon (12:30P-4P), with ~20 people per shift.

We will be packing and distributing free packages of groceries to low income families and individuals. Specific tasks include packing produce, assembling and distributing each pantry package, and other activities as needed. All volunteers must complete a liability waiver on or before February 7.

We are asking for donations ($20+) ahead of volunteering to ensure attendance + a gift for all attendees (hint, pick your own full-size beauty item from Rebeka's collection). The first 40 people to confirm via the form below and donate at the link below will have a spot at this event. Please donate with your name so I can track attendance! If you donate anonymously, send me an email afterwards.

Note: we have to do it this way with donating $ because A) there is much more demand (100s of you are interested and we only have 40 spots and B) We want people to actually show up so hopefully this makes people accountable.

More about Common Pantry: For 45 years, New York Common Pantry (NYCP) has been a trusted source of support for New Yorkers facing food insecurity.

With 1 in 4 New Yorkers facing poverty, NYCP steps in where public programs fall short, ensuring New Yorkers can continue to access healthy foods, hygiene services, nutrition education, and other necessary resources.

Their holistic approach addresses not only participants’ immediate need for food but also confronts the underlying causes of food insecurity through our interconnected programs – food pantry (Choice Pantry) and meal distribution programs (Hot Meals), homeless visitor services (Project Dignity), case management focused on resource acquisition (Help 365), and nutrition education (Live Healthy!).
