Uptown Shakespeare in the Park: Othello

  • Richard Rodgers Amphitheater, Marcus Garvey Park 18 Mount Morris Park West New York, New York, 10027 United States (map)

Shakespeare’s searing tragedy of love, jealousy, power, and betrayal — live in Harlem.

The Classical Theatre of Harlem returns to Marcus Garvey Park with Othello, William Shakespeare’s searing tragedy of love, jealousy, power, race, and betrayal.

Directed by Carl Cofield, this free Uptown Shakespeare in the Park production brings one of Shakespeare’s most urgent plays to the Richard Rodgers Amphitheater in the heart of Harlem. As manipulation takes root and trust begins to fracture, Othello examines how a single lie can ignite a world of suspicion, desire, and destruction.

Othello continues the company’s celebrated tradition of bold, accessible, world-class theatre for New Yorkers and visitors alike. Performances are free and open to the public. RSVP is encouraged.
